Join the Founding Flyers Society
The Founding Flyers are a unique society of individuals and institutions that forever will be recognized and remembered as the catalytic leaders who had the vision and commitment to launch and fuel the AirSpace Minnesota vision.
In the spirit of the renowned Explorers Club in New York City, Founding Flyers members are interested in lifelong learning and connections to the visionaries shaping the future today while helping inspire and equip a new generation of learners.
The Founding Flyers Society was launched at a dinner at the Anoka County-Blaine Airport at the fabulous Golden Wings Museum. Buzz Aldrin from the first moon landing and Harrison Schmitt from the last moon landing shared their remarkable experiences in working with Dr. Gilruth.
Last April the Founding Flyers hosted their first destination experience – a VIP visit to the Kennedy Space Center. Participants had permission to land private aircraft at the Shuttle Landing Facility – one of the longest and most iconic runways in the world. They were treated to a luncheon presentation by Bob Cabana, a Minneapolis Washburn High School graduate who went on to become a four-time Space Shuttle mission and Astronaut Hall of Fame member before taking on leadership of the Kennedy Space Center.
